Premium Processing Fees Raised By USCIS

USCIS announced on Friday that it will increase premium processing fees beginning on Monday, October 19, 2020. Premium processing fee will increase from $1,440 to $2,500 for all filings currently eligible for premium processing, except for H-2B or R-1 petitions. Premium processing allows eligible case types to receive a final decision within 15 days of filing, unless the government requests additional information.

Any premium processing request, filed using Form I-907, that is postmarked October 19th or after must include the new fee amount. If USCIS receives the premium processing request with the incorrect fee amount, it will reject the entire petition and return the fee.

In what may be a silver lining, USCIS also plans to expand premium processing services to more categories, however there is no timeline for when the planned expansion will be put into place.
